PTFE, FEP, PFA

The non-stick coatings with PTFE, FEP and PFA are fluoropolymers, PTFE being known under the product name Teflon® from DuPont. One of the outstanding properties of these coating systems is their excellent anti-thixibility since the fluoropolymer coating can not be wetted by the most substances.

PTFE is characterized by its low coefficient of friction. PTFE slides on PTFE like ice on ice.

The positive properties of the coating systems make them indispensable materials without which many modern processes would no longer be possible.

The different fluoropolymers at a glance

PTFE:

Good anti-stick properties

  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Moderate chemical resistance
  • High scratch resistance
  • Heat resistance up to approx. 260 ° C

FEP:

  • Excellent anti-static effect
  • High chemical resistance
  • Moderate scratch resistance
  • Heat resistance up to approx. 205 ° C

PFA:

  • Very good anti-stick properties
  • Very high chemical resistance
  • Low scratch resistance
  • Heat resistance up to approx. 260 ° C
